Tell us what you think...

Thank you to all patients who completed our patient survey recently. We are now analysing the results, which will be published in February 2012.

New doctors... we have been joined by two local doctors: Dr Simon Lowe full time and Dr Martyn Walling two days a week.

Telephone booking... following feedback from patients, we've made the automated telephone system easier to use.

Wasted appointments... in January 188 people did not keep their appointment without letting us know. That equals 35 hours of time. If you no longer need your appointment, please let us know so that we can offer it to someone else. Overall in 2011, 493 hours were lost in wasted appointments, the equivalent of 13 weeks' work for one person.

Self check-in... in January 63% of patients used the self checking-in monitor. Thank you! This enables our receptionists to spend more time on complex issues and answering the telephone. If you're not sure how to use the self check-in monitor, please ask one of the receptionists who will be pleased to help.  The monitor will now display a message saying how many patients are still to be seen before you.

New out of hours number... if you need urgent medical care or advice when we're closed, dial 111.

How to order repeat prescriptions

Once your doctor has agreed that your health is stable and you can have regular medication on a repeat prescription, those items will appear on a tear off slip on the right hand side of your prescription.  You have a choice of ways of ordering these:

  1. Order on the internet using SystmOnline – you need to register to use this service.  Please bring photographic identification to our receptionists who will issue you with a username and password.  Once you are registered, you can order any medication which is due to be re-issued.  This is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. pillClick here to order your repeat prescription online
  2. Tick the items you need and put the tear off slip in the repeat prescription box in reception.  reception is open between 0800-2000hrs on Mondays and Tuesdays and between 0800-1830hrs on Wednesdays, Thursdays* and Fridays.
  3. Email us on lin-pct.westsidesurgery@nhs.net including your date of birth and listing the items needed.
  4. Register to use a repeat prescription ordering service with a pharmacy.
  5. We will re-introduce a telephone ordering service shortly.  We will create a dedicated telephone line on which you can leave a message to order what you need.  This will be available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

For all repeat prescription requests, please allow two working days for us to process them.  Please do not request item more than a week before they are due as we will not be able to authorise them.

It is important that your doctor reviews your medication regularly as both you and the range of medication available and recommended for your treatment change over time.  Therefore, you will need to attend a review with a doctor from time to time before your repeat medication can be re-authorised.
